Title: What is Love?

What is love?
If not sanctimoniousness,
What is love?
If not egocentricity.

This is my love story,
Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
Like doves beside the water-brooks,
Washed with milk, and fitly set.

This was just but for a moment,
A moment I thought,
I discovered the enigma of love,
To the square of infinity, I said.

What is love?
If not a transaction,
Auctioned to the highest bidder,
So ephemeral,
As far as your cash can go.

I wanted to spend my life,
Treating you like a queen,
I wanted to spend my life,
Attending to your needs.

I wanted to spend my life,
Watching you laugh and smile,
Because I loved you.
