And I could have composed,
A thousand and one hymns for you,
Write a melodious canticle for you,
Play a sweet, soft serenade for you.

Peform below your window,
A moldy oldie or an aria,
Coming forth in euphonic inferno.

I could have joined the best of choir,
To warble a choral in your honour,

In the darkness,
Sing with melodic embellishment,
Your carol of high praise.

And at night,
Yodel a lullaby for you,
Only if you’d have listened.
